Not too much to report this month but a gentle reminder that this Tuesday and Wednesday - September Tuesday 12th at 7.30pm and Wednesday 13th at 10.00am we will be holding “Open House”. We have put together a display showing what we are all about, a timeline showing what we have achieved in the past etc, and all our archives will be available. Display boards will be about the School, Old House Farm as it rises from the rubble, an item about Mr Gilmorton himself, Nev Robbins, and we shall have the projector running showing photos of Gilmorton in the past.
The quiz / treasure hunt, launched on 1st July, is still running and will continue until 31st October. Quiz sheets (complete with map giving village locations) will cost £1 each and are available from Gilmorton village shop, committee members and our events and from 1st Friday Coffee mornings. Closing date for entries is 31st October.
Our November event will be on Tuesday 7th at 7.00pm and again Wednesday 8th November at 9.30am and entitled “Tales of the Unexpected”. We have booked our very own, Gilmorton grown, Tom the Tale Teller (for both days) who will be telling stories of the ghostly goings on in Gilmorton and surrounding areas. Tom will be telling his tales at approx. 8.00pm on the Tuesday and approx. 10.30am on the Wednesday for about an hour each day. Note the slightly earlier times. This will enable visitors to be seated in plenty of time prior to Toms sessions.
To accompany this will be our own displays showing all the apparently haunted places in the surrounding area. These you may wish to visit yourself – if you dare. Looks like one not to be missed.
As mentioned previously, we are on the lookout for volunteers to help out at our events. If you can help in any way with setting up, putting away after the event, greeting people on the door or helping with refreshments please let us know
