IMPORTANT NOTICE

After talks with our website provider, we have come to an agreement of a very reduced rate for the six months beginning November through to April 2027. (We already had an agreement with him up to October 2026.

Our 12-month Quiz, which ends in October, was funded by a surplus from the grant for the Information Boards in the village. After 12 months of promoting the boards, we still have a small surplus and we have agreed to absorb it into our account.

Due to the temporary easing of the finances, the group has proposed a temporary way forward.

The history group will be put into a semi dormant state for six months, commencing at the AGM in November and up to the end of April 2027, when the reduced website fees will end.

The history group will retain the reduced cost website up to the end of April 2027 and also Microsoft Office for 2027, enabling the group to access its email account and a fully functioning Office suit. This will give the group full functionality to operate during the semi dormant state and give the public, access to the history group via email. 

During this period membership will not be renewed but members details will remain on file to be resurrected if needed.

With no events to research and prepare, the committee can give full attention to securing new committee members and developing a new operating mode.

The proposal will be put to members at the AGM on Tuesday 11^th November.

If there are people that are prepared to commit their time as committee members and to bring new ideas and new ways of working, then consideration may be given to continue with the group after the April 2027 deadline.  If we do not get new committee members, then we will close.
