Well, the time capsule is finally closed after almost 12 months in the planning. Tuesday evening saw all the contents on public display in the village hall. The capsule with the whole contents then moved to Gilmorton school for their Wednesday morning assembly with media in attendance.
The school has provided the history group with a USB pen/flash drive/ memory stick which contains all the children’s photos, drawings and comments on what they think 2050 will be like and what they themselves may or hope they will be doing at that time.
The capsule then moved back to the village hall along with the photographer for another photo shoot session before it was packed away for the final time. It should be quite an exciting time in 2050 when the capsule is opened after 28 years. Who will still be here? What will life in the village be like?
There are 41 items included in the capsule and the history group says a huge thank you to all the village organisations and residents who made a contribution.
There is however, one extremely massive surprise awaiting residents when the capsule is eventually opened but, like all surprises… it must wait until the appropriate time, that of 2050. So, for those who can, be there for the opening!!!
