AT LAST, and after so many long months we are back in action. Our first ‘event’ for 2021 will be an “Open House”. It’s free, so just pop in and you will receive a warm welcome and meet all your old friends and possibly make new acquaintances. See what we are all about, chat to the committee and browse all our new archive folders over a cuppa’. On this occasion we will not have our usual themed displays available as this event is to gently ease us back and to see how things unfold.
Open House will take place in the village hall on Tuesday 6th July at 7.30pm and again Wednesday 7th July at 10.00am.
We will be running this event with any Covid restriction and/or rules that are in place at the time so please bear with us under these circumstances as we all have to be a little cautious.
The committee is now meeting again and we already have tentative plans in place for the remainder of 2021. Watch this space!!!
Just a reminder, your membership subscription has been carried forward to the end of November 2021 meaning free entry to any normal event in 2021.
Work is still going on in the background on our Archives and Website. After a 3-week marathon, the “Church and Chapel” category is now complete.
By accident, during preparing the Church and Chapel archives, we came across a little video of the Church and its surroundings. The video had been captured using a drone, then edited to provide approximately 3-4 minutes of a lovely aspect of the church which we do not normally get to see - from above.
It is complete with background music too and well worth a few minutes of your time. You can access the video on the Website in the Church and Chapel category. Simply click on the link under “All Saints’ Church Video”.
We now have the following categories uploaded:
Buildings and Streets Pt1 - North Buildings and Streets & Pt2 - South
Gilmorton Village Trail Gilmorton Memories (individual’s memories)
Shops & Traders Gilmorton Disasters
Our Farming Community Celebrations and Festivities
Sports and Games Church and Chapel
Latest additions:
Gilmorton Families How we used to Live
Ancient Gilmorton Gilmorton Chandler School
As more items appear on the Website, we are quite happy to receive any corrections, additions, identification of people in photographs etc. to anything that is published.
We would like to thank Mary Curtis for the donation of several Lever Arch Folders. A useful addition to our stationery store.
