Gilmorton Village History Group - IMPORTANT UPDATE – August 2019
Over the past couple of months the history groups committee has been seriously affected by medical and personal issues. Because of this we have been unable to carry out our normal research and planning for the 17/18th September event “The day war broke out”.
At a committee meeting on Monday 12th August we also learned that two more of our committee would be out of action for the foreseeable future. Because of theses circumstances we have had no choice but to cancel the September event. During our 5years as a history group this is the first time that we have had to cancel one of our regular events.
If any member has prepared information or write ups for the event please hang on to it as we may run the event next year. We do apologise but we are sure that everyone will understand. This has also had a huge impact on the progress of the Web Site but work will still continue when possible.
As mentioned, we are cancelling the whole event but have decided, in its place to run a “drop in” event on the Wednesday morning of the 18th September from 10.00am. We will have some of our past archives available to look at and, for those interested, Bob will be bringing along classic car and plane information. There will be no charge for this drop in event and it will include free tea/coffee, biscuits and cake. Members and non members alike are all welcome.
In readiness for the “Lest We Forget” remembrance event on 19/20th November, if anyone has articles that would be suitable for display, please bring them along to the drop in event.
Our planned COFFEE MORNING on Wednesday 8th October at 10.00am is still going ahead and will include a raffle.
To round off the year we have our AGM on Wednesday 27th at 7.30pm.
